Education for Photographers

Mentorships and Workshops

Starting a business is so much fun… but it can also be so overwhelming.

When I was starting out a few years ago, I had so many questions and so much confusion. The introvert in me felt bad asking other photographers for advice, and the mentorships I found were expensive and intimidating. I wanted to figure everything out by myself, but sometimes that isn’t the smart way to do things.

I found myself in a brand new state, starting a business where I hardly knew anyone, and I would cry at the word “taxes”. Yep, I’ve been there. And it was a scary place.

However, this process doesn’t have to be scary! Starting your own business gives you freedom, flexibility, and a way to get creative every day. Once you get organized and figure out your goals, everything falls into place. Trust me. And I’m here to help you get to that point, because man it feels good.

Virtual Mentor Session

We can FaceTime, Zoom, or Google Hangout and you are free to ask any question you’ve ever had about starting a business, weddings, photoshoots, cameras, literally anything!! I will send over a questionnaire beforehand to gauge your goals and where you are as a photographer, and then we will chat for 1 hour!

You will receive an custom WorkBook to take notes on as we go along, and no questions are off-limits during the session!

Some things we could chat about…

portfolio/website critique, finding your style/brand, becoming an official business, organizing bank accounts & money, taxes & how to be prepared, tracking income & expenses, second shooting, getting gigs, client management, contracts & payment, business insurance, websites & branding, backups & file organization, typical wedding day, posing, communication/emails

One-on-One Workshop

$450, three hours, including a photoshoot, photo critique, and mini info session.

This is the perfect option for those who want a little bit of information, but also are dying to have hands-on experience with a real photoshoot while learning from me.

We will work together to come up with a shoot concept/goal, and I will find real people to model for us. This can be a couple, a family, an editorial, or a senior. We will chat about your interests/target market, and plan from there!

Hour 1: Meet and prepare, answer questions, get gear prepped.

Hour 2: Real photoshoot, with us shooting side-by-side together!

Hour 3: Look through photos, chat about the shoot and how it went, answer any final questions.
